Artist's Comments

I've about had it with the constant fear people live under around here. Inspired by =tsukishoujo's excellent vector tutorial (read it and stop polluting manga/digital/vector) and intended to stimulate growth of a beautiful art form.

You put the case across very well, and you clearly have a strong sense of humour. Personally, i don't really have a view on vectoring (beyond that it can be very stylish and uncluttered), but i'm a little bit wiser now. I say do what you want - at the end of the day, who's to say what is and isn't art?

I'm not quite sure I understood this to its fullest.
I do, though, understand that it is hard 'creating' art in this and other communities now days because of the large increase in laziness and direct reproductions.

Anyway, the staggering popularity of cheap and uninterestingly juvenile art such as 'Naruto' lead it to be mindlessly reproduced, and then allowed to spam the servers. It's not that I think Naruto is stupid or silly, but simply the fact that it is reproduced, or in your terms, 'tributed' that I believe makes people angry. When you see something done over and over you do get somewhat irate.

I agree, if people would take the time to learn the law, less time would be wasted, but if the artist took the time to create their own characters and art, things would be more enjoyable.

I'm kind of glad you did this, so that I could see more about why people do vectors... At first I thought it was just tracing, but it's much more than that.

However... it's not very convincing when you say that vectoring is as much of an art form as 'silly digital painting' and 'artwhore photography'. Mentioning those others with such scorn and saying that vectoring is as much of an art form as them kinda contradicts the point you're trying to get across.
Plus, although I think you meant the photographer-wannabes-with-disposable-cameras / people-that-belong-on-myspace, which I would agree with, if you mean the photographers with beautiful photos who have been educated in the art of photography and would go to great lengths to get the perfect shot, then I'd have to disagree.
